The CTM HS-890 is an excellent machine, however, it is a lousy run company in my opinion. I have been trying since mid-April of 2007 to get my locking mechanism fixed on my tiller but to no avail. I have called Taiwan to the home office but nothing and their California facility hasn’t got a clue how to run that place. Again it is an excellent machine but I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying one as it is impossible to get help if you need any repair done - plus you may do like I have to the closest repairman for my scooter is 100 miles from my home. Beware if you’re thinking about this company if you don’t want a lot of frustration.

my name is john bennett and i am disabled, i was wondering if you could make the mobility scooter go from in the range 20 miles to 60 miles. i now the goverment said no but if it was up to the disabled person the disabled person would say knickers to the goverment and let it be a lot longes
range not 20 but 60 miles.

I purchased my CTM scooter 0n 12/29/04 and have had nothing but problems with it from the beginning. It stopped working again last week and can find no one to fix it.
DON’T BUY THIS ONE….once you do no one cares if it is operational or not.

MY FATHER-IN-LAW IS A RETIRED AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC AND IS TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO REPAIR SCOOTERS AND NO ONE WILL RELEASE INFORMATION TO HIM.
IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW I CAN OBTAIN MORE INFORMATION PLEASE POST IT…….

AMANDA, we have had a similar desire to repair the CTM scooter I have–but repair manuals, etc. are within a closed industry–distributors. Manufacturers refuse to deal with anyone but them, as you probably already know. These people (sales distributors) are known to promise anything to make a sale, then when you call you find that they don’t back up their guarantee. You could probably get what you need if your father were to become a certified CTM distributor, but he would need a store front, etc. With that in mind, you would have to really love your scooter to do all that is required. Not just C.T.M., but other companies can present similar problems. The companies may be well intentioned, but they cannot control the flakes who distribute for them. It can be terribly maddening to anyone dependent on a P.O.V., as if their disability weren’t enough to deal with! SCOOTER USERS UNITE!

I have been trying to find a part and an owners manual for a ctm mobility scooter. Apparently, the only distributor is an outfit in Florida called Easy Mobilility Co. which is basically an answering machine. They do not return phone calls.
Choose another brand of scooter.

Do NOT buy a CTM scooter. As if my disability were’nt enough, the scooter that I was depending on-the HS 360 has failed me more than once. On my very first outing the brake system failed and I was stuck in the middle of the zoo! Then the store where I bought it has had nothing but problems w/CTM trying to get it repaired. Seems once these people get your money, then you are out of luck! I’d sue the manufacturer if it wouldn’t be an international case and royal pain. Someone needs to though! I’ll NEVER buy a CTM product again.

I took my CTM HS686 on holiday, when I got there it would not work. Took it to for repair, was told that it would be about £300.
As it was not worth any more I said i would look at it, stripped the control bod out of the back, looked in to it, found the two boards had come apart with the jolting of the trailer, put them to gether worked ever since.

I was looking forward to a great holiday, 6 weeks long touring National Parks in the US. I pushed the scooter more than I rode on it. It would not handle a 1% grade, nor a ride of more than a city block or so. So my pushing time was uphill and at high altitudes. I installed an inverter in the car so I could keep it fully charged at all times, but that was not the problem. After my return from vacation, the dealer replaced the transmission and both batteries. It took him two weeks. I will never use the scooter again because I cannot trust it to preform reliably. I will either sell it, give it away or put it at the end of the driveway for the trash trucks.

I bought a CTM mobility scooter and Harmar lift from this store. I wanted to use it on an extended vacation out west. I pushed the scooter more than I rode on it. It would not go up even a 1% grade and stopped short for no reason. Upon returning to Slidell over a month later, I returned it. The axle, clutch, and batteries needed replacement. I took the scooter home. I soon needed it again to drive to Michigan for my father’s funeral. I arrived at the funeral home, hooked the scooter up to the lift, was removing the scooter from the car and the scooter fell on the ground, leaving the seat still hooked to the lift. I was never able to use it. He offered no recourse for the scooter falling off the seat. These shoddy and badly manufactured products are unacceptable.

need a controller for my 580 but to no avail seems no one wants to even talk to you about a ctm. shows no codes and the diagnostic light is not on batteries new and full charge but nothing telling the motor to run, very poor system and support.

I had to do some repairs to my late mother’s CTM 580 after she passed away. Contacting the local distributor here in Canada was a total waste of time but after I called the company (CTM Homecare products) in California (909-590-1388) and spoke to Luis he could not have been more helpful in sourcing the parts and shipping them to me here in Nova Scotia. He also told me how to do the repair which was not at all difficult. I found all the staff to be extremely polite and helpful at all times and would not hesitate to deal with them again.

i have aCTM Mobility Scooter instruction booklet.and i can scan a page or an aswer for someone 23. john savile it says for 6 blinks meen s transmission lever not in neutral and beside that contact your authorized dealer. i just bought this one and it only needed batteries i have200$ in it, a good christian man got it for 400 on his plastic, and we made a plan to pay him back , well God is good the Salvation Army gave 200 and i gave 200 and the pension iam on payed for the batteries Peace and Love Donnie

For all the negatives I’ve read, I can only say that my little CTM that I bought used has given me back my way of life. I have learned that I can’t 4-by it, but it has gone on a crusie ship, on planes, in the trunk of my Focus, down dirt roads, etc, etc, etc. It’s so wonderful that if anything should ever happen to it, I would not hessitate to go right out and buy another. I’ve had it for about two years now, and it’s been nothing but excellent in spite of the way I’ve used it.
